Design Notes

The Ompt protease is highly expressed in E. coli and has a secretory effect, and can be processed into an outer membrane protease that is secreted extracellularly. We want the endogenously secreted protein to be secreted extracellularly, and the addition of ompt before the target gene allows the otherwise endocrine protein, to be secreted extracellularly.
